Guess who helped set up the Watchmen show at the Cartoon Art Museum?

Of course 90% of the work was done by the museum's hot curator, Andrew Farago. But he let me hold the sign.

The "sneak preview" version of the show, with movie props, costumes, and concept art by Dave Gibbons, is up now. More art will be added in time for the opening reception on February 27. The museum is also hosting a benefit advance screening of the movie on March 5, with tickets available on a sliding scale. Info at www.cartoonart.org.

Hurm.

Aww, you look all grim and doomed and such.

Let's hope the film itself lives up to the hype...

by the museum's hot curator, Andrew Farago

I'm kinda sad I missed you calling him hot the first time I read that, just because I love silly little sweet things like that.

Also, I cannot express in mortal terms I am how jealous I am that I don't live out in California right now. You have no idea.

So did you try on Rorschach's stench as well? The look just isn't complete without the stench.

I much prefer this picture from later that evening...

I'd ask when the show ends, but, well, nothing ever ends.

You look appropriately end-of-the-world gloomy. The dust mote/orb in the photo is also a nice touch. The shiny blue guy must be nearby...

I'm still cranky that you weren't working the ONE day I was in SF and went to the museum.

Hello? It's all about me.

I went to the museum the other day and saw that sneak preview...

Of course I was able to tell which props were also in the comic and which one weren't. Sometimes it scares me to realize how big a geek I am.

Oooh! Bad-assery!

That sounds wrong.

I was really amused by that "End of the World" sign when I saw it in the preview version of the exhibit. Somehow it had never occurred to me that that would be the kind of thing that a prop department would labor over, but of course it's likely to get way more screen time than all those maps and posters and ID cards.
