Web Cartoonists' Choice Awards
The nomination round for the Web Cartoonists' Choice Awards is on now. If you write and/or draw a webcomic, you're eligible to vote in the WCCAs. So register!

I don't like to go pimpin' or nothin', but my webcomic Narbonic just ended its six-year run, and this is the last chance to give it some awards-season love. Please also consider my comics Li'l Mell and Smithson as well.

I was going to recommend other webcomics here, but the list got too long and I realized that I'd probably make enemies forever by accidentally leaving someone out. So I'll leave it up to the comments. What webcomics were most worthy of recognition this year?

Outstanding comic, outstanding artist, outstanding use of black and white (or really almost any of the other categories): Templar, Arizona

Outstanding newcomer: Dresden Codak

Outstanding comedic comic (or possibly Outstanding short form comic): xkcd

Outstanding comedic comic (I can't pick just one): Rob and Elliot

Aw, g'wan. Thanks, Mashuren!

And for my part, I'm going to have to insist that everyone nominate Pug Davis for SOMETHING. Best Sci-Fi might be most appropriate?

I don't participate in the WCCAs for reasons of my own that are none of their doing. Back when the only webcomics I drew were fanfiction of screen properties (instead of more recently, when I draw one that's fanfiction of a public domain property), I stumbled on the WCCA site, and assumed - given the disparaging attitude to which fanfiction is most often subject - that they wouldn't be interested in me and mine. Sour grapes or whatever, I remain uninterested even now that I definitely qualify. But I do wonder whether things would be different now if I'd known then that one day Powerpuff Girls Doujinshi would win WCCAs.

Can't vote, don't draw. :)

But...Girl Genius has been coming out very strongly. So has OOTS. I've got a sneaking fondness for Pastel Defender Heliotrope and Ice, too.

Mine? Nah, not really. I'm not sure how I even won the first time, and I've updated a lot less this year.

Uhhhmmm... Let's see. Lackadaisy Cats for sure for black and white art. And of course Templar. I can't think of any others off the top of my head and possibly because my love for Templar obscures all else.

Also I hate you for not including me how dare you my brain is aflame with hatred for YOUUUUU.

I just completed my nominations, and, although the usual suspects do make an appearance, a few of the smaller and medium-sized comics I considered include:

Grumps
Lackadaisy
Uku
Nothing Better
Even in the Deepest Heart of Chaos...

Also, while I nominated the very deserving Dresden Codak in a few categories, it's been around since early 2005 and doesn't really count as a "newcomer."

I don't think I realized how much I enjoyed Order of the Stick until I saw how prominent it was in my nominations.

Would that I could, but I haven't dug up, erm, found an artist that wanted to draw a bookish incubi.

The suggestions so far have been excellent and many would cause me to have decisional anxiety.

I can never bring myself to actually vote in this thing. It's too disheartening somehow.

I'll probably send in just so I can bump votes for you, Spike, and Jenn Manley Lee.

I feel pretty much the same way (the categories seem to get more gratingly idiotic each year), but I want to help call attention to some deserving comics. Which, as far as I'm concerned, is what awards are for.

Huh...all three of my nominations for Outstanding Comic this year are by women. I didn't even mean for that to happen.
