It's so easy to fall off the wagon. I started watching just a few episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation, and suddenly I was jonesing for Deep Space Nine and Babylon 5 and zoning out in front of entire seasons of Red Dwarf. Today, my LJ post about Carl Horn made me nostalgic for old-school otaku culture (you know, before the rape-fantasy shojo manga and thinly-disguised pedophilia, when it was all about healthy expressions of sexuality, like Lum's bikini and the burning question of whether Nausicaa wore pants), and I had the innocent thought, "Hey! I bet YouTube has the famous Daicon IV opening animation by Gainax!"

Suddenly it's two in the morning, I've got Electric Light Orchestra tracks downloading on iTunes, and I'm hunched in front of the computer singing, "Tatakae! Tatakae! Tatakae Ooootaaaakiiiiing!"
