"One for the book" refers to the tradition among mathemeticians that the most elegant and satisfying proofs are written in a book by God. This one is Bertrand's Postulate. The one Mr. Rosa starts to discuss next is a related but unsolved problem. At least, I think so. I don't know math stuff; I'm a damn cartoonist. All I know is that Neil did a kickass job on the Taylors.

Last night we had one of those gatherings at our apartment that I know I'll be describing to someone from the Comics Journal in forty years, and they'll think I'm senile. And that's all I can say about that.

Really? I don't think I have anything on the Li'l Mell page except WCN banners, and I can't get anything pervy-looking to come up right now. Did you get the title or anything?

Thanks, everyone. I've reported it to Lisa Jonte. I guess there have been problems with ads like this showing up lately, but Lisa does NOT allow this stuff to run on Girlamatic. (Don't even ask me why the people running these sites think Girlamatic readers would be interested in anime ass shots in the first place...)

Sorry everybody! That's a huge mistake. Shaenon shouldn't have any banner ads at all, and any ads that appear on the rest of the site are expected to be porn and bigotry free.

I am investigating.

Those exact ads do appear on AdultWebcomics.com, which is hosted on the same server.

There are no ads appearing now. I have not made any changes to the code today. I did make some changes to the ad code for AWC last night.

I can't imagine that they would cross over like that, and it doesn't seem to be happening now. The only thing I can think of is that I may have temporarily accidentally overwritten a file, and then corrected the problem while I was working on stuff last night.

At any rate, if this happens again, please let me know, and please accept my apologies.

Okay. The server-side database caches of the two sites were both being saved into the same directory on the server, causing this problem. Problem solved. My extremest apologies, and I'm glad it only showed up for a handful of people. Very embarrassing.

Y'know, I have honestly wanted to see more comic strips with a little math in them. Lots of folks get turned off to the idea early in life, before they get to the stuff that's actually interesting.

You should totally read my man Jason Shiga's comics at shigabooks.com. He has a degree in math, and his comics incorporate a lot of math and logic. "Fleep" is a good one to start with.
