It's been a while since I posted house photos, but we've been hard at work on the vegetable garden in the back yard.

I did not mean for the garden to wind up this crowded. I planted a lot of seeds I didn't expect to come up, and they did, and I was all WHAT.
String beans!

Cauliflower and tomatoes!

Beets! Beautiful beets!

I've got cucumbers coming in, too. I'm growing dill so I can make refrigerator pickles. Full lineup of fruits and veggies this year: tomatoes, cauliflower, broccoli (only a couple of plants came in), string beans (several varieties), cucumbers, beets, blueberries (the bush has now been planted for a year and is starting to get berries), and strawberries. Attempts at eggplant and soybeans don't seem to have worked out. This weekend we're going to expand the garden a little and add zucchini and yellow squash for the fall.
Meanwhile, here's a photo of the time the cat decided to sit in the box where Andrew keeps his G.I. Joes. Thank you.

Next up: the basement. It looks much less murder-y now, I assure you.
I wish I had a) the time and b) the long-term dedication for a garden, but really, raspberries and mint are more my speed. ;-)
www.rareseeds.com if you want to try some of the weird heirloom varieties. Heck, they have 51 varieties of cucumber alone!
